π± 26 Vs 27.5 Vs 29 Inch Wheels
A26Γ5 tire has about 20% more volume than a 27.5Γ4.5. That is a very noticeable performance difference especially if you dare to ride something more adventurous than manicured groomed trails. A 26Γ4.8 has about 10% more volume and even a 26Γ4.6 has slightly more volume than a 27.5Γ4.5.
Thisis the main advantage of a 27.5" bike, as it's goal is to utilize the advantages of both 26" & 29er bikes. β’ More forgiving than 26" bikes. β’ Larger wheels mean less suspension needed, which increases overall bike efficiency. β’ Higher top speed when compared to 26" bikes. β’ Good off the line acceleration than 29ers.
Treks Smart Wheel Size approach pairs 29β wheels with M, L, and XL frames and puts 27.5β wheels on XS and S frame sizes. 27.5β wheels are more agile and responsive on technical terrain when compared to their 29β counterparts. They are big enough to roll over obstacles better than 26β wheels and small enough to provide nimble handling.
Thewheel sizes. There was a 26, 27.5 and a 29er in the mix. You can read the entire shootout by clicking here. Three wheel sizes go knob-to-knob; 26-inch, 27.5-inch and 29-inch. We pick our favorite and give you the reasons why. Travis Fant works his video magic. Six wheels, three riders, 30 speeds and one winner. βWork with me, baby.β.
Theother factor, 27.5 Plus wheels with Boost have shorter spokes than the 29. So even with boost hubs the 29er wheels built at the same component level have longer spokes, possibly a bit more wheel flex so IMHO It will take a better quality wheel set to be as stiff and responsive as the 27.5+ wheel set.
Dependingon the type of wheel, the size of both the 26 and 27.5-inch rims may vary. For example, a standard 26-inch may be anywhere from 22-inches to 23-inches. The diameter difference between 26-inches and 27.5-inches is 1.5-inches. However, we must divide this in half because we measure the axle out to get the radius (half of the diameter).
Thereare three sizes of wheels predominantly in use in mountain biking; 26 inch, 27.5 inch which is sometimes called 650B, and 29 inch, and put simply, the size of wheel you choose will alter
29inch wheels ensure smooth delivery, safety and speed on straight stretches. 27.5-inch ensure manoeuvrability, acceleration and resistance on winding, jagged trails and jumps. The mullet combo of 29 inches at the front and 27.5 inches on the rear combines the best of both worlds: smoothness, traction, and speed.
Thatsaid, it also depends on your style of riding. In my experience, 26" bikes are a little more playful and nimble, while 29ers soak up the trail and cruise over obstacles. I personally ride 26" because I love being able to quickly throw my bike around, hit all of the little jumps, and free ride at the local parks.
275-inch wheels are much more stable and give a smoother ride than 26-inch wheels. 27.5-inch wheels allow for a lot of flexibility in frame design. Tight angles,

Thisall depends on wheel weight, size, etc. A thin 29 is practically the same circumference as a wide 27.5. A heavy wheel setup feels harder to accelerate than a light one. There's WAY too many variables to take into account than just the general size of the rim/wheel.
Thewheels were then passed between testers who used each set on their personal bikes for familiarity and consistency. Each pair was ridden hundreds of miles on the vast and varied trails of the northern Sierra and the greater Lake Tahoe area. All of the wheels we tested were 29 inches in diameter with standard Boost 148 spacing and
Thefat bike size is clearly best for snow and mud, and the mountain bike tire is fastest on most dry trails, but the 29+ strikes a perfect balance between grip, float, weight, cushion, and rolling resistance. "+" tires come in two sizes: 27.5 x 3" and 29 x 3". As a result, the outer diameter of a 27.5+ tire is similar to a standard 29er.
The27.5+ wheel standard has the same 584mm diameter as a regular 27.5-inch wheel, only the rim is wider to accommodate a tire that is around three inches wide. Some frames designed for a 27.5+ tire will also allow you to swap to a regular 29er wheel and tire combo as the outer diameter of 740mm is the same. With 29+ wheels the outer
